Mermaid Girl

Hey all, I think I'm done with this one.  No background, I tried one or two, but I just really like the simplicity of the white.  It's really more of a character study.  I really wish I'd gotten this one done in time for the mermaids for artjumble, but maybe next time...

Wicked!

Okay so this one is actually a passion project of mine.  I really enjoy musicals (Schwartz is great!) and animation.  I would love to be on the visual development team for this one!

littlest pet shop project

I worked on this project as a subcontractor to a subcontractor.  This was about two years ago so I think it's plenty fine for me to show these.  To my knowledge they were never used, and I never put them into color, but I still like them!

Ugly Ellie

These are a few designs for a character I'm developing for a children's book.  She's supposed to be a bit homely, but I still want her to have enough appeal.  I think she's coming along.  At first I really distorted the proportions, but it was a little too warped so I scrapped it.

Another week, another chow

Hey, I'm really digging these character of the week projects from conceptart.org right now.  I recommend that everyone go and check it out if you're not already hopelessly hooked.  Here's this past week's project.  After a little consideration, I've come to the conclusion that my style really doesn't fit in.  But what the heck, right?  I'll go for it anyway because I love the challenge.

new post_finally!

Hey, I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd show everyone what I've been up to.  I've started working on "character of the week" activities again on conceptart.org.  The other artists totally humble me.  But I've been too comfortable in my full-time job and I need to stretch my limits a little.

Jane Eyre literary piece

Yes, I know, week of posts is off to a sluggish start.
Anyhow, I love designing from the written word!  Here's
one of my favorite heroines-Jane Eyre.  Great novel!

Well, it's not technically Tuesday...

But you have to give me a break.  After all, I gotta work for a living!
This was an interesting idea, the Patches the clown family out for
a Sunday drive in the four seater bumper car.  Too bad about the boring
composition and poor execution.  I'll try to work on it over the next few weeks
see if I can't make it better.

A full week of sketches

In shame because of the neglect of this blog, I'v decided to
post one new sketch everyday this week.  I work from
home so I should be able to find the time, I'm just not
sure where it all goes to.  Anyhow, I was drawing dogs for
next year's plush and this one snuck in.  Completely unsuited for
the plush industry, but a cool look none the less.

New big ticket stuff

Well, not really new.  I worked on this project about sixteen to eighteen months ago.  I was working as a subcontractor to a subcontractor, when the subcontractor folded.  So I guess it's okay to show these off.  It kind of shows my thought process in terms of dressing a set.  Not my best work, but it was a lot of fun and I thought you might get a kick out of it.

Blues story

This was a personal piece I was working on for a while about a Mississippi boy who discovers his dream of being a bluesman in New Orleans.  Current status, abandoned, but not with out hope of revival.  I think it had potential, but...

Monkey Boy lives!

Another personal project that went, um, well...nowhere.  I've really got to make time to follow through on some of these show and book concepts.  I always get as far as the idea and the initial concepts, then I get excited about something else.  Oh and my  full time job gets in the way, too.  Any how, if I know that just one person likes this little monkey, then it will all have meaning!

My Little Ponies! Yay!

I hope I can show these.  It's been a year since I worked as a third party freelancer on the new batch of My Little Ponies.  I don't think the company I worked for got the contract though, because I haven't seen anything pop up in the past year.  Oh well, that's the life of a freelancer!

Since you've all been so patient...

Since I've been so neglectful, here's a deluge of "cute and fuzzies" for you!  Aaah it's like a warm hug for the eyes.  Feel...so...happy...

Sorry...Been REALLY busy with work

I know it's a really lame excuse, but I should be preparing for my trip to China, and not blogging.  After all, I'm lucky to even have a job, right?  Hope silly bear cheers you up!
